about

Xylitol releases have appeared on a number of labels, and the Peripheral Conserve label is very proud to be releasing this latest surge of electronic angst.

Xylitol is the musical persona of Jim Backhouse whose enviable record collection has frequently been aired over the years through his stints as a DJ at London’s Kosmische club and Resonance FM.

The four tracks on this single are taken from an intense period of activity six or seven years ago. Only a small amount of tracks from that period were released with many more being equally deserving of wider listening.

The caustic pop of Kunst ist Tot and Glass is offset by two corresponding ‘easy listening’ numbers, Lull and Dom that veer towards the world of Dick Hyman’s Moog records. The latter track is an instrumental cover version of Soeur Sourire’s Dominique.
